NHS DTAC support for health tech suppliers
The Digital Technology Assessment Criteria (DTAC) is the baseline NHS organisations use to assess digital health technologies before they buy. Clinical safety is one of its core sections, and it is where many submissions stall.
What changed in the refreshed DTAC
NHS England published a refreshed DTAC form and guidance in February 2026, replacing the previous version from 6 April 2026. The new version has around a quarter fewer questions and removes duplication with the Data Security and Protection Toolkit and medical device regulations. It no longer requires your Clinical Safety Officer to have completed a specific NHS Digital training course, but clinical safety evidence under DCB0129 is still required.
